Rakesh Kumar’s Ph D fieldwork experiences in the Siddi community in Gujrat inspired him to start this project. His dream is to extend this website to a full digital archive of the Siddi Goma-Dhamal performances in India. The aim of this website is to provide easy access of Goma-Dhamal performances to the Siddi and Non-Siddi community members and a platform for the Siddi performers to share their performances. The International Library of African Music, Grahamstown, South Africasupported this archiving initiative. ILAM is one of the most well-known African music archives and research centres for music and oral arts in the African continent. ILAM is the leading archival and academic research institute and has several years of experience in archival work. He will create a digital archive website that will be accessible to the Siddi communities and the rest of the world.
